My mom has been tutoring a lovely little boy named Trenton. Trenton is currently up at WI Children's hospital and will be having a bone marrow transplant after the holidays.
Her other little buddy is a former coworker's child, Ty. Ty has one more year of chemo to go and is doing GREAT!
While up at the hospital, my mom was told that the floor was in need of hats for the kids (bald little heads get cold quickly!). So she mentioned that it would be nice to make a FEW hats and donate them in Ty and Trenton's names. Well, she underestimated the power of a pregnant bargain hunter. I bought EVERY fleece remenant from Jo-Ann fabrics on Saturday (under $20 total) and brought fleece, cutters and my sewing machine to her house on Sunday. (family was warned that there would be a craft project and they could participate if they wanted :-) ) We ended up making 67 hats and one blanket for the kiddos up at the hospital!!! I have to finish hems on each of them, but for the most part they are ready to go.
Best of all, the participants want to make this an annual tradition. Hopefully we bring some smiles and warmth to all that get to wear our hats!!
what a beautiful gift. well done to your family!
