Today we had Zack's flu shot and head check. We have been doing head checks at every appointment and once a month since his birthday. We had talked to neurology around his birthday and had debated doing a MRI and a CT scan then, but then decided to do some watchful waiting (hence the monthly checks).
Today we did our head check, and we decided that it was no longer a good idea to keep watching. So....the news is....We will be taking Zack up to Madison to have a MRI and CT Scan done (neurology might cancel one or the other, but at least one test will be done). They will be knocking him out for the test since they need him to be completely still for the test. The diagnoses that are options are:
1. Best case senario...he just has a big head
2. Hydrocephalus (http://www.webmd.com/brain/normal-pressure-hydrocephalus)
3. Worst case senario...brain tumor
So we are praying for #1, and if we had to chose between 2 or 3, #2.
So far he not showing any signs or symptoms increased cranial pressure (good thing), but then again they are only looking at his eyes as a marker. They measured Joel and my heads at the appointment and will be forwarding those measurements onto neurology as well. We are hoping that the tests are all done by next week. They are hoping to get us in ASAP, but did not feel as though it needed to be done today. We will keep you all posted!!
